About the RoleThe Production Manager oversees the full production lifecycle-from pre-production, auditions, and casting through rehearsals, performances, and show changeovers. This position leads creative and technical teams, manages production and labor budgets, maintains high artistic and safety standards, and coordinates closely with leadership and hospitality departments to protect the guest experience.Key Responsibilities
Pre-production leadership: Hire and supervise designers and creative personnel, lead design and concept meetings, and manage the master production calendar and deadlines.
Auditions and casting: Create audition notices and schedules, prepare materials, run auditions and callbacks, coordinate casting decisions, communicate offers, and maintain performer records.
Talent and rehearsal coordination: Source accompanists and musicians, manage talent inquiries, track cast and creative-team availability, approve rehearsal
schedules, and prepare production information for stage management and marketing.
Contracting and financial management: Negotiate contractor rates within approved budgets; build, monitor, and reconcile show and season budgets; manage receipts, payroll support, schedules, and personnel records.
Artistic and technical leadership: Attend production meetings, rehearsals, tech, dress rehearsals, and performances; provide creative notes; maintain production quality; manage conflicts and emergency replacements.
Team leadership: Supervise creative, technical, and resident staff; coordinate time-off requests and auxiliary show personnel; support a collaborative working environment across departments.
Safety and asset management: Oversee inventory, storage, and equipment maintenance; enforce safety protocols; conduct safety walk-throughs; and support compliance with workplace, fire, and life-safety requirements.
Cross-department coordination: Align production activities with food and beverage, operations, marketing, box office, and other departments so rehearsals and performances support seamless dinner service and guest experiences.
Administration and accountability: Maintain production documentation, incident reports, handbooks, and job descriptions while securing executive approval for final casting, contractor agreements, major purchases, and budget overages.
What We’re Looking For• 3-5 years of production management, technical direction, or artistic producing experience; experience in a high-volume commercial theater, dinner theater, or entertainment environment is preferred.• Demonstrated success managing large-scale auditions, collaborative casting processes, and independent contractor agreements in a non-union environment.• Strong financial and business skills, including experience building and reconciling budgets and spreadsheets and managing labor and materials costs.• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to unite artistic, technical, and hospitality teams.• Proficiency with production scheduling software such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, and project-management tools.• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule averaging 45 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays during auditions, tech weeks, and performances.• Current CPR/First Aid certification and formal theatrical safety training are preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of active stage, shop, backstage, audition, and dining-room environments, including lifting or moving up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.• Ability to pass any required background checks.
Compensation and ReportingThis is a full-time, exempt, salaried position paying $65,000 per year. The Production Manager reports to the Executive Producer/Owner.

Sound Design
Job Description: Collect, edit, create sound effects, ambience effects, and occasional compositions for theater productions. Program the Yamaha DM7 sound console for large scale musical productions. EQ performers and a live orchestra.
Qualifications: Previous sound design and sound board operation for theater productions. Qlab.
Starting Pay: $1800 DOE
Sound Engineer
Job Description: Operate the Yamaha DM7 sound console for musical theater productions and/or concerts. Mix a live band and multiple performers.
Qualifications: Must be reliable. Previous sound board operator experience, preferably a degree in sound. Knowledge of Qlab, Dante Control, and wireless problem solving.
Starting Pay: $75 per show. DOE
Carpenters
Position: Carpenter
- Job Description: Consistently looking for carpenters to assist with strike and load in for our next production. Dates and times vary. This is an excellent opportunity for extra income for a few days of work.
- Qualifications: Some carpentry experience preferred.
- Compensation: Starting pay is $15 per hour and dependent on experience.
Electricians
Position: Electrician
- Job Description: Consistently seeking stage electricians for strike of one show and load in of our next show. Dates and times vary.
- Qualifications: Some electrical experience preferred.
- Starting Pay: $15 and is dependent on experience.
Dishwasher/Prep Cook
Position: Dishwasher
Summary: To maintain dish area, equipment, and chemicals. Maintain clean and sanitized kitchen utensils and service ware. Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is a dinner theater located in Johnstown, CO. Hours would typically be Thursday-Sun until we increase out business to be open more days a week.
Current PayScale: $15 starting wage/$16 after 1 year/$17 after 2 years. Dishwashers who show motivation and can work fast-paced will have the opportunity to be trained as cooks as positions arise. This is a great entry level position if you would like to eventually learn to cook.
Job Responsibilities:
- Wash pots, pans, and other cooking equipment by hand while following proper ware washing techniques.
- Scrape food from dirty dishes and place them in dish racks. Wash all utensils, glassware and dishware, and store correctly.
- Sort and remove trash and garbage to dumpster.
- Sort and stock clean glassware, utensils, and dishware.
- Ensure the work area and equipment stay clean throughout shift.
- Change dish machine chemicals, water, and three compartment sink, as needed.
- Wash/mop variety of work areas (e.g., tables, walls, refrigerators, floor, etc.) throughout shift.
- Work closely and communicate with BOH and FOH Team Members, in a high pace environment
- May be cross trained into other BOH positions.
- Other functions as assigned by management.

Pay: $15.00 – $16.00 per hour
